Inside the Experience
Welcome to Nico's Restaurant, a hidden gem nestled at 1458 W North Temple St, Salt Lake City, UT. This family-owned eatery has quickly become a favorite among locals and travelers alike, serving up authentic Mexican cuisine that resonates with vibrant flavors and generous portions.
From the moment you step through the doors, you're greeted with the warmth of friendly staff who are genuinely passionate about making your dining experience exceptional. As Raveen Lajoi highlights, the carne asada tacos are a must-try, especially when paired with their signature chipotle sauce. It's hard to overstate just how addictive these tacos are, with each bite delivering a burst of flavor that's both rich and satisfying. Pair it with their delicious homemade horchata for a refreshing balance that complements the meal perfectly.
As you explore the menu, you'll find dishes that cater to a variety of palates. Kim Graf couldn't get enough of the Tacos Don Nico, blending steak, pork, and chicken into a culinary masterpiece. The enchiladas, as another satisfied customer noted, are another excellent choice that showcases the restaurant's commitment to authentic flavors. If you're into seafood, Sharon Olson's recommendation of the fajitas with steak and shrimp serves as a reminder that the seafood offerings are equally impressive.
Nico's isn't just about great food; it's about a community experience. Customer reviews repeatedly mention the welcoming atmosphere and prompt service, where each meal feels like a home-cooked celebration. Grazielle Santos de Paula illustrates this perfectly, noting how swiftly her meal arrived without sacrificing freshness or flavor—evidence of the establishment's thoughtful and efficient operations.
While the restaurant may be on the smaller side, there’s an undeniable charm in its cozy setup, enhanced by outdoor seating for those who prefer a little fresh air. It’s a local spot that invites you to linger, savor, and enjoy your meal—like a true Mexican fiesta!
Whether you're finishing a long trip or simply exploring Salt Lake City, make your way to Nico's Restaurant for a taste of authentic Mexican food that promises to delight your senses. Don't let the exterior fool you; the flavors you’ll find within are nothing short of extraordinary.
“ I’ve tried many taco places in SLC, but Nico’s takes the cake. For starters, the staff was absolutely lovely which made the entire experience 10/10. The carne asada tacos were flavorful, you MUST get the chipotle sauce. The server recommended the homemade horchata it’s definitely on the sweeter side but still amazing. The only downside is the restaurant is a bit small, but there is some outdoor seating. I will be back very soon! ”
“ We were on a 12-day, 4 state trip, and ended it in Salt Lake City, we found this place because our hotel was near the airport. How lucky we were to fine it! This was my favorite meal of our entire trip. The food was delicious, ample portions, chips & salsa included, and it happened to be the daily special (meal, and soft drink for $10.99)! The service was excellent as well. It's not a fancy place, but it is clean. If you love Mexican food, you won't regret eating here! ”
“ The best Mexican food I’ve ever had (and I live in Southern California where there are a lot of Mexican restaurants). I had the Tacos Don Nico (steak, pork, and chicken - you can choose). The steak was my favorite! My partner had the enchiladas and they were delicious too. I would drive to Salt Lake City to eat here!! Right next to the KOA campground! ”
“ Checked out this local spot for lunch. It was really good. Ordered the fajitas- mix of steak and shrimp. Generous portion, but needs more tortillas (I ordered more on the side). We also ordered the birria tacos. There was plenty of seating and parking. The server was nice. I will try other menu items in the future. ”
“ Loved to try this place, small local business, but with great food, very well made, fast (just took 7 minutes to be ready), so fresh, so delicious, and a reasonable price. Definitely I will come more frequently to this place. Give a try. ”
